AccSys Delivers LANSAR&trade DL-1 Neutron Generator to England

Pleasanton, CA - July 27, 1998

Dr. Robert W. Hamm, President and CEO of AccSys Technology, Inc. announced today that AccSys has recently completed the installation of one of its LANSAR™ DL-1 neutron generator linacs for British Nuclear Fuels, Ltd. (BNFL) in England. This unit will serve as a turn-key neutron source for a key BNFL application where long-term stability of the neutron output is an important factor.

According to Dr. Hamm, "This is the second of our LANSAR™-based neutron generators purchased as a replacement for a neutron source based on other technology. It clearly shows the advantages of our rugged, long lifetime, turn-key approach to neutron production. We believe that the LANSAR™ neutron generators will continue to replace other neutron sources in the mid-flux range in NDT and other applications where reliability and long-term stability are critical."

AccSys Technology is the world's leading commercial producer of rf ion linacs. In addition to synchrotron injector linacs and custom linear accelerators for special applications, the company manufactures its PULSAR® and LANSAR™ product lines. PULSAR® systems represent the next generation of equipment for the production of positron radiotracers, which are used in medicine for research and diagnostic imaging. LANSAR™ units are powerful, compact neutron sources designed for reliable long-term operation in non-destructive testing applications. The model DL-1 is the smallest of these systems, operating with a neutron output of 108 to 1010 n/sec.

AccSys Technology, Inc. was founded in 1985 to commercialize advanced radiofrequency (rf) ion linac technology for applications in medicine, industry and research, with emphasis on developing an innovative system for producing the short-lived radiotracers used in medical positron imaging. AccSys has produced and delivered 18 rf ion linac systems worldwide since 1987.
